Stockholder Meeting
The Stockholder Meeting was held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 21. Attendance was excellent - at more than 100. Commodore Mike Hass thanked those who had worked so well for the Club, particularly those whose term on the Board of Governors was ending: Steve Benvenutti, Mike Chapoton, Jimmy Crane, Vincent Imbornone, Ruth Michel & Joyce Whitfield. He swore in the newly elected board members who were present: Drew Boxx, Rene Dupaquier, Tommy Elkins, Weezie Kennedy & Randy Santa Cruz. Henry Martinez was also elected but not present. He will be sworn in at the next regular meeting of the Board. The Commodore presented the Woman of the Year award to Connie Ross and the Man of the Year award to Tommy Elkins. The Meeting was followed by a Bail-the-Bilge that went on until nearly 6:00 pm. Immediately after the Stockholder Meeting, the new Board of Governors elected its Flag Officers: Commodore Ted Dawson, Vice Commodore Bernie Wolfe, Rear Commodore Vincent Imbornone, Secretary Mal Burnett & Treasurer Ruth Michel.

Building Reconstruction Committee Membership
Dear Commodore Mike & Rear Commodore Bernie -
Pursuant to our annual stockholder's meeting last Saturday, 1/21 and following up on my rather academic question concerning the flood insurance funds you received to date and my suggestion that perhaps these funds could be applied to an "expandable" permanent structure that could be expanded in the future assuming additional insurance claim funds (or other funds) are received accordingly. Although I appreciate your (and especially Bernie's) suggestion that I give consideration to becoming a member of the BWYC "Building Committee", please be advised that I have given this suggestion the consideration that it deserves and I must regretfully decline. My business in Picayune, MS has more than doubled in size and capacity since its inception in 2003 and it threatens to increase (and grow) another 50% in the next 6 months, requiring additional structures, equipment, etc. Managing this scenario takes a 110% effort on my part which leaves little time for anything else. Insofar as serving the BWYC is concerned, it has always been my philosophy that if you cannot give your assignment and/or responsibility everything you have, its best not to do it at all, rather than merely perform at a less than acceptable level (to me). However, I do appreciate your asking.

Bail the Bilge after Annual Meeting Saturday
Hey, folks, don't forget that we will have a Bail the Bilge after the Annual Meeting on Saturday, January 21st. The meeting is at 1:00 p.m. at St. Thomas Episcopal Church at Diamondhead. Afterwards, we will have a bail the bilge, also at the church.
Seafood boil, anyone ?
Does anyone know how to contact the man who boiled the crabs and crawfish at Pepper's Discovery Bay ? We would like to see if he might be interested in boiling a batch or two at BWYC on Sunday afternoons. Let us know... Margaret and Gene

TO ALL BWYC SAILORS
The BWYC Executive Committee wants to get the BWYC sailing season started, and some noticable sailboat racing activity going on the bay as soon as possible.
We need to plan the racing season; our weekend races, revive some sort of beer-can racing on whatever evening that is appropriate (Wed. night races), get some markers & race committee equipment, help Larry Keith clean up the two race committee boats, and plan our BWYC Opening Regatta for April. Our two boats will soon be good to go.
The only way this will get done is if we all do it together.
Those who want to help and be a big part of the revival of BAY-WAVELAND YACHT CLUB please contact me at jbatthebay@aol.com, or 228.342.1207.
I will soon have a FEMA trailer on my property, and will spend more time there to help. Come out and try to beat the old man on the race course.
Thanks, and happy sailing.

Christopher Robin FOUND!
Using my home made dinghy I could enter Diamond Head Yacht Club and I found her there, floating, and, unbelievably, IN A SLIP! She was carried by the surge 2 full miles straigth North.
She lost her rudder, the mizzen mast is in the water, there were 2 feet of water inside, the lifelines/stanchions must be replaced, the motor/propeller are a mistery, and the wood around her edges must be replaced. Inside water damage too soon to tell, but I expect swollen wood.
I would like to move her to BWYC and then to a boatyard. This is a tough lady and also pretty. Is there a chance to tow her?
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!!
