JIB SHEET
A one page Jib Sheet was created by Vice Commodore Ted Dawson after the first post-Katrina Board-of-Governors meeting. For those of you who may not have received the Jib Sheet and use the BWYC Blog to stay in touch, below is somrwhat of a reprint of it.
The Board of Governors held its first post-Katrina meeting on the afternoon of Saturday, October 8, at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Diamondhead . Attendance was very good, considering that many of the board members had to travel a long distance to be there. Nine of the twelve members were present The club manager and two former commodores were also present.
It was reported by the treasurer that the club's cash position is strong and that club activities will continue, and that the insurance on the club building was adequate. A committee was formed to handle the club's insurance claims, and the process of filing claims was initiated.
The mood of the meeting was positive - WE WILL REBUILD, and continue to be a leader in the GYA.

"The BWYC is not a building, but a community - a community centered upon water and boats and competitive sailing. It is all of us who get together to enjoy the company of one another. A place to get together would be helpful. The water is still there. We have our boats - most of them. And, as this short "Jib Sheet" is trying to say, we will continue to get together, to sail competitively (and win), and eventually build a new club facility to be proud of and enjoy. I thank Betsy Weatherly for editing the "Jib Sheet" prior ot Katrina, and I have no desire to take over her job. This is my effort, as Vice Commodore, to communicate the actions of the Board of Governors and to keep open our lines of communication on a temorary basis as we rebuild our BWYC."
