Close but no cigar - Click "View" over to the right --->
We finished second at Wadewitz. Pontchartrain won. Not sure, but I think we were tied.
Gilly had a questionable start but fixed it quickly & won the first race. Harry sailed second and had a little better start and finished second. Seeing the trend here, Randy sailed third and figured the bad start thing was the way to go, so he was over early and had to go way back. He was in second at the first mark, way out in front of the third place boat, but couldn't catch the leaders.
Katherine sailed fourth and fought hard to push Pontchartrain back to third, but in doing so, she lost them and finished fourth about one foot behind David Bolyard.
I sailed last and after spending three of the races guarding our ice chest (very closely), I was ready to pounce on Pontch. We kinda lost track of the time and didn't have the greatest of starts, but managed to get ahead of them at the weather mark - which I proceeded to run over.
The 360 cost us Pontch, but we ran 'em down and got by them at the leeward mark. We pushed them back to 6th, but didn't have enough runway to catch enough boats to win the regatta.
It sure was a pleasure getting out there, thinking about winning a race, not post Katrina.
Many thanks to Fairhope for running the event - by the way, they don't have a club either.

Does anyone know how to get in touch with Terry and Lucy Markel ? We had an ongoing conversation about hosting a MNF dinner during the Saint game, Thanksgiving weekend. We would need a kitchen too.

Click on what???... Anyway, nice job guys, I really wish that I could have been there (you think you know, but you have no idea). How did the boat do? I heard my dog put his signature on the sail? I will be back down in the bay for the weekend over Halloween, and am really looking forward to that. When is the next capd. regatta?
Pensacola's Schreck is next Capdevielle - Oct 22-23.
Randy and I are already talking about going. Alex is over that way as well as Gilly.
