The Spirit of The Gulf Coast
Hello all:
I hope everybody is surviving and getting your lives back on track. I know that for some of you this will take longer, but there is hope. I was on the GYA website a few minutes ago and hit most of the GYA clubs' websites. As you know most were either destroyed or severely damaged just like BWYC. It really is sad to see such a blow to the facilities of the clubs across the Gulf. But one thing I have noticed that is clear and gives one hope. Yacht Clubs aren't buildings, places or even boats, it is the people that have that common interest in a way of life. Yacht clubs truly are a family and in times like these that really shines clear. I see that clearly in the posts here on this blog. I read it every day and it gives me hope. My wife, daughter and I are from Mobile and now live near Jackson, MS and "grew up" on the coast in the yacht clubs, mostly on Mobile Bay. We have been working with the Red Cross doing disaster relief all along the Gulf Coast and have seen a lot of people hurting and needing help to get their feet back on the ground.
I see the Yacht club families coming back together and getting things back together, some faster than others, but I am encouraged to see that spirit still strong and surviving well. For those of you that have lost your homes and even loved ones, I continue to pray that you will find comfort and hope.
Keep you chins up and don't loose hope. It will get a little better every day. You WILL get your lives back and one day this will just be a distant experience.
Sincerely,
Greg King
