Email sent out from Kay & Rebekah Kennedy
This was emailed out on Friday, Sept.2nd. There have been a couple of updates since then, but this is very very helpful. Thank you Kay and Rebekah!
Jen
Hi all.
This is Kay Kennedy Regimbal and Rebekah Kennedy. This is Basil's address and he has asked that we try to stay in touch with as many as possible right now. If any of you receive this, please let us know that you are OK and where you are.
Kennedy - Basil and Weezie are headed to Perdido Key/Orange Beach for a couple of days. Rebekah is with me in Oxford, MS and we have enrolled her in school at Oxford High where they have welcomed her with open arms! Marty and I feel very fortunate to be able to spend this time with her... Our Uncle Rip and Cousin Tare (Basil's brother and his son) have really been heroes through this whole storm! They have a trucking company that they pulled in and currently have a convoy of semi trucks with medical supplies & equipment, food & water headed to Hancock County and cleared by MEMA and FEMA for delivery. Those coming with the trucks are volunteer firefighters, nurses, doctors, and EMT's from the Anderson, SC area (where they live) - and more are flying in with more prescription drugs,> IV's & equipment for Hancock Medical Center - they have had the head of MEMA and the lieutenant governor working to get them there.
Penrose family - Caroline Madden Colquett has been absolutely incredible in seeing that the right people were contacted and all of Rip and Tare's efforts could be accommodated. Nanette Stroh and Norvin Penrose are now with Caroline, Jason & Family in Greenwood, MS. The rest of the family is doing great.
Stieffel's - all are OK - We believe that almost everyone, if not all, from the Coast have now made it to Larry & Cindy Cady's home in Texas. Cindy and Larry also went above and beyond to see that those who were ready to leave could leave, and those that wanted to stay had all things they needed. They are really incredible people and have really shown the true spirit of our community!
Breath - Chuck and Ellen Breath are headed back to Destin, FL where Missy, Vince, Corbin & Addie are. Chuck, Katie and Charlie are in Memphis with Ellen's sister's family.
The Murphys - Dootsie and Murph are in Natchez with Dootsie's family.
The Chamberlains - last we knew, Walter, Malin & Gilly are well - staying at Mr. Rausch's home on Second Street - Kippy and Jen had just moved to Jackson and we are hoping that they are all there now - if anyone has heard from them, please let us know.
Mr. Rausch's home became the home base for our crew in Bay St. Louis - he has now left with family - but he and his home proved to be a real life saver for all who stayed.
Judy Reeves is with Mary Ladner in Bay St Louis - they are doing well according to Weezie as of today. At the time, I do not think they were ready to leave.
The Eagans are spread out - Marc, Gail & family in Destin; Ricky, Cathy & Family in Montgomery; Peggy, Polly & Family in Greenwood - trying to get to Polly's home in Bush - which should be accomplished in the next few days. (Marcus and Roseanne are in Newport, RI)
McDonald/Uram/Kane - Iva May and Nancy are in Charleston. Robert, Ellen, Regan & Sanders are in Baton Rouge. Jana is in Vicksburg. Mark & Kim are OK - but we think are still in Bay St. Louis.
Mestayer - Marilyn is in Jackson with her mother. Richard was still in Bay St. Louis with Ed Weidlich - but we think Will went back yesterday to pick him up. Dick & Paula are in Milton, FL.
Benvenuttis - we believe all are OK and in Florida - but we are not sure.
Haddens are in Destin.
Santa Cruz - we know that they are fine - but are not sure where they are.
Trapani - we also know that they are OK - but are not sure where they are.
Chapoton's - we have not hear from them - please let us know from them.
Taylors - we believe all to be well - but are not sure where they are. (Sarah & Zak are in Baton Rouge)
Gene & Kathleen Jenkins are great - house is still there - very little water and damage - they are allive and well!
Whitfields are alive and well - not sure where they are.
Chapmans - all are now in Mobile - all alive and well.
Kinney's (Pass Christian) are all alive and well - in Florida with family & Basil and Weezie Kuhners (Pass Christian) are all alive and well and were back on Menge as of yesterday - but we think they are leaving
John McKellar (Pass Christian) is alive and well - in McComb with family
Jacobi - Amy, Kevin & their families are all in Jackson, MS
Carters - Annette, the kids and her family are in Oxford. Mark is in Jackson working - all are alive and well!
Simpsons (Pass Christian) - Bobby, Lisa & Family are in Annapolis, MD - the kids have been enrolled in school - but all are alive and well.
Peneguy's - we know Oliver is great - house on Menge fared rather well - but do not know where everyone is.
Merrigans - have not heard from them - please give update (Staying in Ridgeland, Jackson)
Martinez - Basil saw Henry & Patrick in Bay - not sure where everyone is headed.
Crane's - Jimmy and family are alive and well with family (and some Eagans) in Montgomery
We know this doesn't even scratch the surface - but these are the only people we have had contact with - or have heard of others having contact with. We would like to keep a regular update going in the hopes that as the days go by, more and more will be added to the contact list. If anyone has any more updates - on those listed and on ANYONE else, please respond to all and add names as necessary so we can all keep in touch.
We are continuing to pray for everyone and for the recovery and future of our great cities. We know that the next days, months and years will be trying - but also find great strength knowing that all will return better than ever with a sense of community like no other. We look forward to seeing you all soon.
Kay & Rebekah
