At least the Flag Mast is still standing!

However, and unfortunately, I think that's the only thing still standing on all of N. Beach Blvd! If anyone is wondering what the flag mast gaff is doing on the ground, its because it needed to come down. The wind bent the gaff connection on the mast thereby fracturing the metal at its mount. I was concerned that someone would try to bend the gaff back to its original position which is quite easy to do however at the same time the metal fracture would shear and down comes 150 lbs. of steel pole (the gaff) which is exactly what happened (as planned) when I did so. The flag mast itself is in fine shape and it did what it was designed to do and that was to essentially survive! The gaff (and Burgee mast) can easily be repaired, however the flag is looking rather ratty, if anyone has a flag that they can spare, feel free to install it on the available halyard. Joan, Chad and I (Scott is in Los Angeles and returns here on 10/10/05) rode out the storm in our "hurricane hole of a home" in Diamondhead on the 14th fairway of the Pine course (at 50' altitude) and sustained very minimal damage to both residence and our manufacturing plant in Picayune. Both of which received power just one week after Hurricane Katrina arrived. We (and all our employees) were back in operation shortly thereafter. Joan and I wish all of you a speedy recovery and we look forward to the upcoming "housewarming" party in our new yacht club!
