Wednesday Night Racing

Congratulations to Hugh Finalson and the crew of "Miss Scarlett" for their exceptionally stealthy performance in the Aug 23 race. They were sailing so fast that none of us other racers even saw them round the second mark, Jordan River #1. Way to go, Hugh! Bob Davis, Mac 26

Coming by water to the Lipton

To all folks who are coming into the Bay of St Louis by water. We have been sailing all summer with very few bottom collisions. However, be very careful coming through the bridges. Here is the best advice that I have. Stay in the old channel. When you pass the train bridge look past the car bridgeconstruction for the number 1 channel marker, a big post. Head straight for the number 1 and you should pass through the location of the former draw for the car bridge. Do not turn left to head toward the club until you get close to number 1.

The fringes of the yacht club entrance have not been cleared, looks like trees mostly so proceed straight on in or stay out by the number 2 channel marker which is 200 yards off the end of the front pier.

Good luck. Do not plan on staying in the harbor unless you are a scheduled working boat for the regatta or have made arrangements with the harbor master Tommy Elkins 228 493 4097.

We have a lot of food and fun planned so have a safe trip and a good time all weekend. There will be bagged ice, soft drink and beer sales before each race near the ice machine.

Wed Night Racing

Congratulations to Tirza for winning the Losano series, the summer Wednesday Night Race series which was completed on August 23. Congratulations to Harry Chapman too who pulled a "Bishop" and banged the left corner going from a distant third to a distant first on the last leg of the race.

Next week starts the Fall series and the race starting time will change to 6 pm. Be advised , be there earlier. We were out in the dark this week. Can you believe the days are getting shorter ! Does this mean that it will cool down sometime in the future ?

Sunfish racing

Hi Folks,

I will run very informal sunfish races tomorrow, Friday Aug 4 starting at 3 pm for whomever shows up. Kids, if you have a laser bring it down. All small sailboats are welcome. If you do not have a boat but want to participate, come down and maybe we can get you onto a boat part of the time. NO entry fee and no trophies, just no pressure sailboat racing.

Judy
