Wed Night Racing Summer Series

The Wednesday Night Racing Summer Series, competing for the Losano Trophy, will begin on June 7 and run through August 23. Races start around 6:30 pm and Malin Chamberlain has an experienced crew of race committee to start and finish the boats off the front pier at BWYC. Att types of sailboats are welcome and motorboats are invited to spectate and offer rescue assistance if needed. So far none has been needed.

Hugh Finlason has been cleaning up during the Spring after sandbagging to geet his handicap adjusted. It is going back down !!! We have been running triangles instead of windward-leewards so that helps him too.

The only debris hitting that has been recorded was right off the front pier and Tom Matthews, the contractor, has his barge in place to remove debris from the harbor and the vicinity around the harbor. Hopefully by June, we will be looking really clean.

If you are not a sailor yet but want to try it, come down around 5:30 and hitch a ride. The bigger boats can handle extra people with no problem, so ask for a lift. It is a beautiful way to spend the evening even if you are not a racer.

Lipton eliminations

Any plan yet on the summer series/Boh series? I need to plan ahead to try and get my races in.

Wednesday -May 24

Hi Folks,

No one asked for a Scot for the Wednesday Night Race on May 24 so they are all available. #6,7,8 are ready to launch and #9 would need a little cleanup. I will be there but be cooking lasagne.

Spring Regatta - Buccaneer Yacht Club

At the Spring Regatta....
BWYC won Capdevielle (Bishop, David, Andrew, Cindy, Terza, Beaux). If I missed someone, I apologize.

On the Sunfish Fleet...Clinton was 2nd overall, but it wasn't decided until last race where he was one point behind Kevin Northup. Todd and Anne Edwards also participated.

New to the scene in her new boat was Judy Reeves.

Lipton help

Hi Guys,
BWYC needs two volunteer coordinators for the Lipton who can bring in a lot of friends. Both jobs require discipline and courtesy for our visitors as well as a lot of help.

Parking coordinator - organize the grounds, help get extraneous boats removed, line the parking areas, man the corners to direct traffic.

Green fleet coordinator - traffic control on the water. organize a fleet of boats to keep the traffic out of the way of the race course, work with race committee anticipating course changes, be nice but firm.

Let me hear from you ! I already have some helpers ready to join in.

Judy Reeves, 342 6811 or email jreeves@datasync.com

Great party Friday Night!!

We had a great Cinco de Mayo party Friday night with a big turn out -- it's hard to estimate but must have been 60 or 70 people enjoying the taco salad, nachos, corona's and frozen margaritas. Thanks to the ladies for pitching in and providing most of the food. It just proves that the imprompto parties can be the most fun. Keep watching this blog -- we'll try to keep you posted with what's going on.

I know with the mail situation a lot of people aren't getting their Jib sheets (we learned that the New Orleans area has a ban on 4th class mail right now, so we will be sending the New Orleans area Jib Sheets out as first class mail intil the ban is lifted).

Again, thanks to everyone for attending and helping make our party a success -- we need things like this to bring in income to offset expenses.

CINCO DE MAYO PARTY FRIDAY NIGHT

Hey, we're planning an imprompto "Cinco de Mayo" party for Friday night - we'll have Corona beer, margarita's and nachos, so pass the word and plan to come join us. We'll have some "salsa" music to get in the mood, too.
